Remembrance - ANZAC service
It was with pride that we once again hosted the Karori RSA Anzac service at our school. There was a fantastic turnout from our community - a real point of learning for children and solemn reflection on and of immense bravery.

Cross country 2026
This year we are taking a new approach to how we organise our cross country races. This year, boys and girls will race together in their year groups. In each race, there will be top 10 boys and top 10 girls, and a girls and a boys winner. We are taking this approach for multiple reasons, top of which relate to how events like these occur in life (Round the Bays for example does not have a boys and a girls race) and because of organisational ease. The race times will be sent via HERO.
How we govern ourselves - Kauri Inquiry topic
This term, our Year 7-8 students are learning through the theme 'The Power of the Campaign' - where they will be focused on how change is created in/for New Zealand through democratic systems. They are starting by investigating the systems of power by comparing the roles and functions of parliament and local councils. They will also explore historical movements, like Parihaka and 1981 Springbok tour, to see how non-government groups can affect decision making. To finish, their aim is for students to develop their own advocacy campaigns, through media creation.
I am hopeful you will agree that this is really interesting stuff - and certainly our city of Wellington has a power of information about it all!

Netball season 26'
This week our netball teams start their season. KWNS has a strong history of Netball, and we are delighted to have 7 teams competing/playing this year. Sport - and team sport especially - is a great thing for children, and we are so thankful to the parents in our teams who have agreed to volunteer their time to either coach or manage the team.
