Year 7/8 Leadership Programme
We have hit the ground running this year, after completing a good review of our Year 7/8 leadership programme which was initiated in 2023. Like last year, we have eight Year 8 house leaders who will represent our four house groups - Wai (water), Āngi (wind), Oneone (earth) and Ahi (fire). We have now added leaders for Arts and Culture and for Sport.

These ākonga worked to earn their positions, which included delivering a speech for the House Leaders, and preparing for and completing an interview for the Arts and Culture, and Sports roles. The standard was extremely high, and the speeches in particular were very impressive.
All of our Year 7/8 ākonga are involved in the wider leadership programme, which is guided by the wristbands that they can earn for excellence and service to the school in the areas of 'Academic - Service to School - Arts and Culture - Sport - Embodiment of our School Values'. I am really proud of the work that the Kauri syndicate (led by Sophie Harrison and Danielle Doyle) have put into this area, and that we are progressing in our aim to ensure that our Year 7/8 curriculum is highly engaging and future focused for our oldest students.

School Donations 2025
As you will see attached to this newsletter, the 2025 donation amount has been set by the Board of Trustees. The amount is the same as the last two years. This money the school receives is critical to how we function, especially in the support we can provide students. This includes funding Learning Assistants and critical materials for learning (e.g. chromebooks). The sad reality is that our school does not receive funding from the MoE to sufficiently resource our school - so this payment is hugely important. The positive note is that the money we do receive is truly valued and does meaningfully impact on children's learning across our curriculum.

Well done to our recipients from last week.
