Year 7 and 8 Camp
Our wonderful Te Whānau Kauri - Year 7 & 8 syndicate left for camp at Kaitoke yesterday, and are having a splendid time (despite some weather challenges!). I look forward to giving a full report of this awesome experience for our ākonga next week. 

It is worth noting too, our thanks for the support offered to the 77 children who sold chocolate to help fundraise for their camp experience. Collectively, we sold over 107 boxes, and it was great to see how enthusiastic they were in selling these.

Our School Values
I am delighted to share with you the updated visual representation of our school values:

Our school values are very important to the culture we set - or how we do things at KWNS. Students and staff refer to them daily, throughout learning in authentic, incidental or deliberate ways. The critical part is in our positive interpretation of how each of these effect our learning. For example, we don't view resilience as being about 'toughening up' rather it is about developing a strong 'can-do' attitude and a positive self disposition or view of oneself. These values are obviously not just ours - they are universal. So, please feel free to use them at home!   

Learning conferences - Week 9 (2nd and 3rd April)
A reminder that the booking portal, via the HERO app, is now open for learning conferences in Week 9. If you are having trouble with the app, please feel free to contact the school office.

This year is the triennial election for the School Board (which will be held in Term 3). KWNS Friends of the School

 

We have started Māehe Manawa Ora - Movin' March, a fantastic initiative organised by Greater Wellington Regional Council. The main purpose is to encourage students to get moving by walking or scootering to and from school. Teachers will be handing out 'passport cards' that will be signed when your child walks, bikes or scooters to or from school. There are all sorts of prizes to be won, so please help your child participate. If the journey to school is too far, please consider encouraging them to walk part of the way.

On Saturday night the 2025 K-Dub Kingfishers kicked off the new year in style, coming home with shiny bronze medals. Missing two of our players, we borrowed  some friends from Northland School and with only half the team having played before, we are excited to see this team develop over the year. Well done to you all - Marcy, Eden, Arved, George, Georgia, Chloe, Maddie, Maia, and to Kester who was recipient for the team player prize for our team.

As you may be aware, this year we moved to HERO, a New Zealand owned and operated Student Management System. With Hero, you can:

Hero has a number of other features that we plan to introduce in the future.  We want to move as quickly as we can to Hero so we aren’t duplicating our communications. However, we understand that it may take some time for all families to get set up.  Because of this, we will continue to email you school notifications through to end of Term 1.  After this time, all school communication will move to Hero.
